Who We Are

APB Storage is a local, family-owned self storage company that provides storage solutions for Jefferson County and its surrounding areas. The company is wholly owned and operated by the Ruble family. The Rubles are from Hillsboro, MO and have lived in the area for over 20 years. Our company is made up of Bill Ruble, Angi Ruble, Josh Ruble, Justine Ruble, and Jacob Ruble. Bill and Angi own the company together, with Bill serving as the Director of Operations and Angi serving as the Event Organizer. Their oldest son, Josh, serves as the Office Manager and Multimedia Designer. Their daughter, Justine, serves as the Social Media Manager and Penske Rental Representative. Their youngest son, Jacob, performs cleaning and maintenance around both facilities.

Our Story

APB Storage was officially founded in 2019. Our family had spent several years in the single family housing industry, helping people find their perfect home while adhering to a budget that realistically worked for them. We were very adamant about the latter part because as important as it was to us to help people find their home, it was more important that we help them stay in it. One common thing that we always noticed, was that people never seemed to have enough space for their belongings. They would end up having to get rid of things that they didn't want to, or would have to find some way to store them.

So we began to look into the self storage industry with the intention of finding a small facility that we could buy and be able to offer to people as a solution. We eventually found the perfect facility in Barnhart, MO, though it was a bit larger than we were originally intending. The Barnhart facility had some good bones but it was in drastic need of some updates, both physically and operationally. We officially acquired the facility in August of 2019 and rebranded it as APB Storage.

We immediately began to pour ourselves into the facility, adding online rental and payment capabilities, the ability to pay with credit/debit cards instead of just cash or check, a 24/7 electronic access gate, fresh coats of paints for the buildings and doors, a top of the line security system, patching potholes in the blacktop, a strong online presence, and much more. We felt like we had found our true calling in helping people with storage solutions, and in order to make sure that we were offering the best storage experience that we could, we transitioned out of the single family housing industry and into the storage industry full time.

 

As we continued to improve the facility, the demand for storage started to drastically rise. Over time we were at 100% occupancy and had to start turning people away because we simply didn't have any openings to offer. After being at full occupancy for over a year and a half, we decided that we were tired of having to turn people away and not being able to help them. We set our sights on a dream; building a brand new facility that would provide a high quality experience and would be big enough to help as many people as possible.

 

So in 2021 we officially started planning our new facility and what we wanted it to be able to offer. We wanted to make sure that it had plenty of storage units to offer, but also plenty of different sizes so people would have variety and options to choose from to make sure they could find the best solution for themselves. In August of 2021, exactly three years after we acquired our Barnhart location, we finalized the purchase of 4 acres of land off of Shapiro Drive in Festus, MO and began making preparations for our brand new facility.

Construction officially began on our Festus facility in January of 2022. The plan was to offer of 450 storage units with 5 different sizing options. Initially we were projecting completion of the project by summer of 2022, however, COVID-19 had caused international labor shortages and supply chain issues that continually delayed the project. Eventually our dream was realized and our brand new Festus facility officially opened to the public in September of 2022!

Our Mission

Our goal has always been to provide people with quick and easy storage solutions, the friendliest staff, affordable prices, and the best storage experience around. We strive to make sure that we are informative and helpful, with no hidden fees or surprises, and are very upfront about any costs or fees associated with renting a storage unit with us before we ever complete a rental with someone. We know that people are busy and we try to make sure that they can rent with us as quickly as possible so they can continue on with their day. A rental can be completed online or in-person at our office typically in under 10 minutes. Each of our facilities has a 24 hour access electronic gate to make sure that our customers can access their things whenever they need to. In an age where the price of everything seems to be skyrocketing, we do everything we can to keep our prices low and affordable so we can continue offering storage solutions to anyone who needs them.
